Mission Statement

The Society for Minimally invasive Spine Surgery (SMISS) is a non-profit, tax-exempt, charitable organization devoted to improving the health of patients with spinal disorders by advancing the highest quality minimally invasive spinal care for our patients.

The Society provides a forum for exchange of ideas and will foster outcomes-based research in the field of MIS. It will provide for education and training of its members in the latest cutting edge techniques and promote the safe and effective use of technology. It will provide a resource for patients and their families as well as other physicians on up-to-date information in an effort to simplify and improve healthcare delivery to patients suffering from painful spinal conditions.

Membership Levels

Voting Member

$350

Voting Members must be board certified in orthopaedic surgery or neurosurgery. Voting Members receive access to the Spine Arthroplasty Society (SAS) Journal Online!

Professional Member

$50

Eligibility as a Professional Member is open to healthcare professionals who do not qualify as Voting Members (PhDs, PAs, NPs, RNs, PTs, etc). Applications must be endorsed by an active, Voting Member and approved by a majority vote of the Society Board.

Member in Training

$25

Members in Training are students, residents, and fellows affiliated with, or working at an institution of higher education. Applications must be submitted with a written endorsement by an active, Voting Member as well as a confirmation of in-training status by the program director of the applicant's institution.
